Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life is about a 12 year old boy (Jeremy Fink) who receives a wooden box in the mail for his 13th birthday and he finds the box mysterious. The box includes the words "The Meaning of Life - for Jeremy Fink to open on this 13th birthday" and it has four locks but the keys happen to be lost. In order to find out what lies in the box, it is up to Jeremy and his best friend Lizzy to to search high and low throughout the city of Manhattan for clues. Their adventure takes them through flea markets, to science museums; while meeting interesting people along the way. Each encounter leads them closer to finding out the contents of the box by providing them with a clue.
The movie features the Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino and the Emmy Award Winner Joe Pantoliano. The movie is based off the 2006 novel written by Wendy Mass. This is a great movie to watch with the family on a movie night along with some popcorn. The movie is rated PG (for some mild thematic elements). Duration is 88 minutes.
My kids didn't seem to have much of an interest, but that is probably because they are a bit too young to understand what is going on in the movie. I think the movie would be good for children around Jeremy Fink's age - it could probably be easier to relate to that way. I found myself into the movie more then I thought I would since it's more geared towards children.
